Basic conflict alerts in shiftplan

Modified on Tue, 15 Jul at 3:30 PM

In this article I'll show you how you resolve basic shift conflict alerts step-by-step. You can enable conflict alerts in your shift plan, to for example spot errors like overlapping shift of the same employee before publishing your shift plan or you can identify role mismatches of the shift's requirements and the skillset of the respective employee in order to stay compliant with rules and regulations.

Learn here everything about selecting roles for your employees.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Identify conflicts

  • Go to the Shiftplan.
  • Open schedules to edit your shift plan.
  • Schedule your shifts as usual in the weekly or monthly view.
  • Identify Shift Conflicts
  • A red-bordered field with the note Conflicts will appear in the upper right corner if there’s a conflict

  • Then, select one red-bordered shift to open the detailed view.

Enable and disable shift conflicts

Attendance policy based conflicts

Rest between two shifts: This is a conflict that connects the attendance module with employee's time entries and the shift plan module. Here you can enable in the Attendance policy settings a set amount of hours that have to be non-working time in between two shifts. Here inside the shift planning settings you have to decide if shifts should be allowed to be published when the rest period in between two shifts is violated or not.

  • Toggle on the switch when you want to use the rest between two shifts conflict alert
  • Check the box if you want to enable your shift planner to publish shifts with this conflict

Activate basic shift plan conflicts

Shifts should match profile roles: Employees can only be given shifts that match their role(s).

  • Toggle on the switch when you want to use this conflict
  • Check the box if you want to enable your shift planner to publish shifts with this conflict

Overlapping shifts: Employees can only be given one shift at a time

  • Toggle on the switch when you want to use this conflict
  • Check the box if you want to enable your shift planner to publish shifts with this conflict

Overlapping with existing time offs: Employees can only be planned for shifts when they don't have a parallel time off entry

  • Toggle on the switch when you want to use this conflict
  • Check the box if you want to enable your shift planner to publish shifts with this conflict

Publish a conflicted shift or resolve conflicts

When conflicts in your shift plan arise you have basically two options:

Option 1: Publish the shift with a conflict - Confirm that you want to publish the shifts with a conflict.

  • Check the box Allow to publish shifts with this conflict

The shift planner is now still alerted but can still publish a shiftplan that contains conflicted shifts

Option 2: Edit the shift

Resolve the conflict by, editing it, assigning it to a person who meets the role requirements or is free for the time of the shift or delete the shift.

  • Regardless of the option you choose, click Publish to finalize and publish your shift plan.
